TOOL APPROACH POSITIONS

Hi All,

I'm machining a reasonably sized hub and was wondering is there any way to change the tool approach positions because otherwise there will be interference with the central boss as the tool repositions for the second cut, I have just enough travel on the machine for the tool to pass just underneath the boss.

Is there a way to do this? Screenshot (72)_LI.jpg

I set origin to model center in Design space so I can use plane to split surface.

That left stl model out of sink so I deleted it but I hope result is what you actually need.

I could have offseted plane but opted to move origin instead as I normally do things like that to make it easier to add sketches or other details in course of programming job.

I am not sure if you were looking for way to beat the toolpath splitting into compliance, I don't have any extensions so I just focus on getting things done whichever way it works.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Sorry for delay in responding.

Many thanks for your solution mate, I would have NEVER of thought of splitting a single surface on a solid model like that, works a treat and saves need to use tool path trimming! 👍
