I've been using the 2D threadmill feature for some time now and it's a little frustrating with the way the depth per pass is controlled. I usually edit the number of stepover expression to PitchDiameteroffset/number of passes for my depths. It's not an ideal situation because I'd like it to take... let's say 3 passes but my first pass is an air cut. Which makes the last two passes heavier cuts and I have to run a spring pass adding to the cycle time, not to mention the 1st air cut. I seen some softwares have percentages like 1st pass- 60% 2nd pass- 90% 3rd pass- 100% depth. I've found a work around but I wanted to know if there is an easier way. What I started doing now is I make a threadmill cycle, duplicate it 2x for a total of 3 passes and the 1st pass I click the option to leave stock and leave .030" , 2nd pass - .010" and last pass 0" so it's at full depth. Then I put that in a folder and use a circular pattern. It gives me great control because on the heavier cuts I can change feeds and speeds if needed but it's just time consuming. Has anyone found a better way?
