Task Manager Empty for Additive

I am trying to grasp the purpose of the "Task Manager" with relation to Additive processing and to understand why it is empty.  Reading the doc for Additive processing it recommends going to:

   Additive:Manage:Task-manager

This is to be done AFTER Post Processing. First of all it is not clear what this accomplishes. Normally for Milling I just Post the Gcode and send it on to the machine. Is this added step just a way of checking?

Also when I bring up the task manager it is empty-I don't see the "log" or any entries. Why is this?

Thanks

Fritz

Hi @fsonnichsen,

The task manager's purpose is for the user to manager the tasks that they are running. It is an optional tool, and is not required in the additive workflow. Just like in milling, once you have postprocessed and generated your gcode file, just send it to the machine/printer.

Note, the task manager will remain empty be default, unless there is a task running.

For example, I generated my toolpath, and while the task was running, it is visible in side the task manager. Clicking on the task then allows you to choose the following options: "Suspend", "Abort", or "Log".

You can also see that the task manager shows what stage of a process the task is at i.e.; Support generation, toolpath calculation etc

Has that helped to clear things up?
