Stock color changed from green to grey

Greeting all,

before in the simulation for manufacturing the color of the stock was green or yellow ( not sure ) now after the update it is turned to grey is there anyway to turn this back to the way it was ???

i have like plus 5k parts that the color of the model itself is grey so when the stock is grey as well it gets tough to see.

i attached two pics for you guys to see what I am talking about, first and the second one is the same simulation but at different angles, when the stock was green or yellow (again don't remember which one it was but it wasn't grey ) it was much easier to see what was going on.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Change the colorisation setting in your screenshot from operation to comparison. That will probably be what you had before.

i just checked it, and no definitely wasn't comparison. I usually have a lot of operations so it always was on operation so I could see different passes and etc. just the color of the stock in the simulation wasn't grey (98% sure it was green, 2% yellow).

since it auto-updates I don't have any screenshots or anything but I found this vid on youtube.  this is exactly how it looked like before for me as well. the only difference was I had the transparency on so I could see my actual part in the green stock as well. 3.JPG4.JPG

since no one is answering, should I assume this is a change on fusion 360 made by devs, and there is nothing I can do about it? ( if that is the case, why won't they give the option to be able to have it like the old time if anyone wants it? like, put a check mark in preference for the green stock in sims? )

I would also prefer Green stock as in the past, I 1000% noticed it upon update

Yes, I agree, the color needs to be changed back.  It's impossible to see it.  Especially if you rotate the model it almost disappears completely...

Have you looked at possibly changing your Display Environment ? See below for image of what I changed to, works fine for me 🙂

@engineguy  I have tried that as well,  what you are showing is after the tool touches the stock. even in your picture the portion of the stock that is not touched by the tool is blending with the rest of the part. there have been times that I forgot to cut my stock because it just looks so similar to my part then looking at the final part and be like ops I forgot to cut that. this doesn't happen often but when the cuts become small it becomes really hard to distinguish them apart. ( and when I say small I am talking about the 0.02-0.04 inch range )

Yes, when running a simulation it is necessary to see if there was any part
of the stock that possibly wasn't cleaned up. With it almost being
invisible it is difficult to see anything. I make alot of custom stock
models especially with castings or coming off the lathe so I can only have
stock where it is necessary...

Is there any update on this? because in process stock is green but when in simulation it's exactly like Ceramic. I think this is a bug?

Nope, not a bug, it was an intentional change. That said, we are discussing other color conventions to utilize...

Yes there should be a not so difficult way of changing the color & saturation when in simulation...

Mastercam has this option.  Imagine that, developers actually focus on their product being used in the real world...

The reality is (as I understand it) is that some of the Simulation components are not actually tech that's been created by Fusion developers, which (currently) limits our flexibility
