Standardized Templates using Containers

Hi Everyone!

I am relatively new with Fusion 360 and I just watched a video from an Autodesk University presentation called Streamlining CAM Workflows by Rob Lockwood. The video is posted on NYC CNC's website and I really like the way Rob has structured his workflow for efficiency in programming. Now the video shows all the great benefits on what this can do, but what I do not understand is how the actual structure of his template was developed. If you go to the video linked in this form post and stop it at 19:53 you will see he is giving a breakdown of how each component is used. I have also attached a screenshot. Does anyone know of a tutorial video on how to properly set this up? I have been trying to build something like this myself from this video, but I am not getting the same result as Rob.

I appreciate all the help in advance!

Well, there's really only one person with a decent shot at giving an accurate answer..

The assembly structure is just built by making new, empty components, and then linking those into places that allow components as CAM selections. The structure itself is something I made up, it works for me, but should be considered moderately flexible, I think it's something that will change considerably given different processes.

Hi,

Here is the link: https://www.nyccnc.com/growing-into-a-5-axis/

It is the video on the far right in the row of three.

Hi Rob,

Glad to have the creators advise! The structure you have will work for my application, but I think I just need to get more familiar with some of the option in Fusion like using parameters for stock size, the synchronize active set up and assemblies in general.

Thanks!

the fusion files used in the class should be available for download somehow through the AU portal, you may have good success reverse engineering those!
