Stability Issues...

Anyone else having serious stability issues? Prior to a few weeks ago, I could count on one hand the number of Fusion crashes I've experienced, and those I could always point to something stupid I was doing that lead to it. Now, I seem to be crashing at the least little thing. Go to Model, change a small feature, go back to CAM and click on the Setup. Freeze and Crash.

Open up an Operation, zoom in to select the proper chain. Crash.

Select a bunch of operations and CTRL+G. Crash.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this. You guys all know I love the software, so this isn't a rant, just more a plea out of desperation......

The crashes are almost exclusively in the CAM environment. I can model all day just about with no crashes using the space mouse.

Thanks for the report IDs, @bensbenz. It appears a new issue since recent update. CAM-5298 is logged, and is under investigation.

BTW, if you have a work flow to reproduce it, it would help.

I have been crashing a lot. It seems like it will crash multiple times in a row if I try the following:

Create a new setup
Create a 3d adaptive toolpath, setup my options, then click ok

It will crash 3-4 times in a row, and then magically it will work and I can get through a bunch of work before it crashes again.

Also, I almost exclusively work on CAM for linked in components, it really seems to choke on these, but breaking links is just not an option for me when prototyping, things change a lot. Simply toggling visibility on things (like modeled stock ect.) inside these components often times will result in a crash.

I have also noticed another issue, when I click to change visibility on something and it doesn't crash, the whole browser tree disappears and I have to click the workspace switcher buttons at the top to get it back.

 Here is a video, this time I didn't even make it to the 3d toolpath creation so perhaps that doesn't have anything to do with it...? Music completely coincidental but it made me laugh.

@bmxjeff whats this vacation you speak of... please use the word in a sentence, I am not familiar with it 😛

Well now a stability issue has hit me too, although no Space Mouse here  at all. Don't know if it's related.

Here we go again.  I wasn't doing anything.  I had just rotated the view and moved to a different program.

In the task manager, I show multiple AdCefWebBroswer.exe which seems a bit funny.3

So I hit debug and chose Visual Studio 2013, and it took about 10 minutes to load the symbols. per Fusion360dllload.txt

Quick update on the stability issues:

We have been digging into this, and while the problems are surprisingly difficult to reproduce on our end we have in fact located a problem that we believe can explain many of the issues you have reported.

We have a fix that we are currently validating and will get to you as soon as possible.

Mark, that's excellent news!

Don't worry, if I get the chance to send an error report, I take it. The ones that annoy me are the ones where it hangs up and doesn't let you submit

Great to hear you might have figured it out. I too have a hard time catching the bugs, it will happen 3-4 times, I fire up the capture software to record what I am doing and then it of course it starts to work. I might need a dash cam style recording software that automatically records over itself every 5 minutes and if something happens I can stop it lol. I guess now I know how all my customers feel when they have IT problems, I come take a look and it cant be reproduced.

Another observation I have made, is that it seems like almost 100% of the cam crashes I get, the file is never in the list to recover when I start up again. Not sure if that means anything.

We pushed a hotfix update yesterday which contains the fix I mentioned above.

It would be awesome if you could let us know if you have noticed a difference in terms of stability.

Hi Mark, so I am happy to report I have not crashed even once since the update. I still get some frozen type events, but instead of crashing it recovers. I have however encountered 2 new bugs:

The stock in simulation doesn't match the stock body I have specified

A few times now in either changing something in the setup or even just creating a new operation, the entire CAM tree in the browser disappears. I have to click undo to get it back and funny enough what I have changed or added is still there. You can check the video to see what I mean.

For simulation, try switching to standard instead of fast mode.

The other issue we will need to investigate further.

Been crashing for me non stop the last three days. Now whenever I click save, it crashes.
