Simulated Toolpath does not match path in Mill.

Hi All,

 

I'm having an issue with the tool paths on a relatively simple part.  When I simulate in Fusion 360, everything looks good.  But when I dry run the program in my Haas Mini Mill 2 (NGC Jan2021 build), the tool paths are shifted in Y and Z directions.  All tool and work offsets in the machine were set with the WIPS probe.  Double checked the calibration and everything looks good there.

 

Stock is 2" wide (X), 2" deep (Y), and 1" thick (Z). 

 

For example, the first cut is a facing operation, using a 2.5" Haas Face Mill (#01-0002).  It is supposed to make a single pass do the center of the stock, 0.040" deep.  When I run it in the machine, it is offset about 0.4" in the +Y direction and about .035" up in Z.  So takes only about  0.005 off the top, plus only machines about 1.85" of the depth(Y).  I have tried 5-6 times to run the program, tweaking the tool paths a bit, but always end up aborting after the facing operation, when I see tool number 2 (5/8" end mill) approaching at full width, instead of the 0.15 engagement it is supposed to have.

 

I'm stumped.....I've double check all of the offsets in the machine and the calibration.  I'm 99% certain its a fusion issue, but cant figure out were I'm going wrong or if the post processor has an issue.....The file is attached.

How are you setting your tools and how are you setting the work offset on the machine? From your file when you touch off you need to subtract .040 from that height and also move .040 in X from what edge I am assuming you are touching off of. I also find it a large coincidence that you are roughly -.400 in y from what would be the vice face.

 

I am going to go with 99 percent sure you are not setting WCS right on the machine. Why not just use center/center for an offset/.

Thanks @johnswetz1982 .  You were right.  I just needed to correct my coordinate system.
