Set the post filename so I am not prompted each time

I find it very frustrating that the program MUST be numeric and the filename matches.  I can't use a filename for the program.  Each time that I generate a new program, I have to type over the filename for it to emit the NC file to my file system.  I don't want filenames like 1001.nc that are not meaningful.  Is there any ways to have the filename for the setup be persistent so that I don't have to edit that field every time I make a modification?

Hi

You can type your program name here in the setup

The limitation for numeric only is set in your post processor, if your machines controller can indeed take alphanumeric characters then you can edit the post to allow this.

If you can share your post here we can show you how to edit it.

You may want to consider looking into NC programs too as you can set a bunch of stuff there so your program will post the same each time.

That was helpful.  I did not realize this was driven by the machine file.  My CNC is a Laguna CNC and I got the file from their support site.  I see that there is ProgramNameIsInteger = true; in the file, which obviously is why I can't use a text program name there.  I don't understand why they do this as there is no program name in the process - I export on my PC to a file system, copy it to a USB, then import it on my CNC, then run it as a file.  The program name is not in the file and the CNC is not operating on it at all.  I will try to set it to false.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I should probably review that file more carefully as there may be other defaults in there that I may want to change....
