Saw blade problem

Hi all,
I want to use a saw blade in my 2D contour operation.
When creating a saw blade either from the tool library or the form mill option in the manufacturing workspace, the shaft of the tool is perpendicular to the circular blade's area.
In the relevant CNC machines, the saw blade holds from right or left to the circular area, meaning that the shaft is concentric with the circumference of the saw blade (where the teeth are present).
How can one achieve this using Fusion 360?
* The saw blade may be held from an angle head (not sure about that).
Thank you in advance!

The reason I'd like this option is not changing the tool's orientation in each saw-blade operation.

I think I understand what you're asking:

No, it's not possible to change the definition of the tool in the library. Tool Orientation is going to be required, as is some likely post processor modification to support aggregate heads such as this.

Thank you Seth,
I really appreciate your contribution to the forum, you've been helpful in most of my posts.
What about defining a tool (using the form mill option) based on a 2D sketch with the tool's profile, rather than changing the slot mill's shaft direction.
Is it feasible at all?
Thank you!

For milling/drilling tools, the axis of the tool shaft is always going to be a Z axis, as it's based off of the Cartesian Coordinate System. This isn't something that's going to change.

You're going to have to define the tool within the constraints that most of the CAM industry has established and then use Tool Orientation to machine the features you need.

Hi All,

I've not googled too much but as far as I can see not many posts are bothering with circular saw blade tool for inventor CAM.

I'm trying to create a tool for 200mm diameter circular saw but no luck so far.

Would you give me a hint how to do it?

I created a tool in ipt to at least have a model, but I haven't find the option to turn it yet.

Thank you for your help!

Create the tool as a "Slot Mill".

Just in case you didn't know, this is the forum for Fusion Manufacture, not Inventor CAM. The answer is still the same "Define as a Slot Mill", but there you have it 🙂
