Rest Machining Air Cutting

I'm brand new to CAM software so forgive me if this is something obvious I'm missing. I couldn't find a tutorial or other guide that solves the issue.

I'm trying to do my first setup on a part and I can't seem to get the 1/16th end mill to cut the thin 2mm slot in the video. It does however try to re-cut everything the 1/4 end mill previously cut even though I selected Rest Machining. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for any advice.

It's likely a lead-in/out move. Could you share the file? File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply

Rather than making .mp4 videos and having use download them, I suggest using the Autodesk Screencast plug-in. Seamless integration into Fusion! https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

Hi Nate,

when you turn on rest machining, make sure you select from previous operation in the drop down.

Thanks, you'll see in the video that I did in fact select that option. I'm not sure what else I'm doing wrong here because this doesn't seem like a very complicated part I'm trying to make.

Just selecting rest machining on its own does not work as the default is
not set to previous operations, you have to select rest machining and from
previous operations from the drop down menu.

Yes, "from previous operation" was selected.

I think I figured it out. The top height was set to the stock material and not the top of the model. I then set the bottom for the next operation to the flat area that the two tabs protrude from. I also had to set the tolerance from .1mm to .001mm
