Repeat parts and "No Passes to Link"

New to Fusion and CAM, coming over from Blender.  Attempting to setup a CNC job and have gotten stuck in two areas.

 

1) I am going to be cutting out many of the same part from a single ~1"x 6-8" piece of maple.  I would like to run about 6 pieces on this board.  I have figured out how to repeat a tool path in a pattern, however, I don't think the pieces will fit in a straight 2 across and 3 up array.  I want to flip one row to be upside down.  The end result would be something like this:

2) Neither my 2d adaptive clearing, nor my 2d pocket operation will make any cuts on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th "steps" of the model.  The contour cut will do it, but that leaves material sticking up in certain areas.  On the pocket operation, I get the "No passes to link" error.

 

I'm sure this description makes less than zero sense, so I have attached my f3d file.  Thanks in advance!

Alrighty then!

So, let me address your second issue first: The issue you are having with your 2D pocket and adaptive operations is because of the type of geometry you are working with. Not a single feature (save for vertical edges) on that part is a straight line or known curve. Everything is simply a line segment and in the modeling environment, clicking on any edge proves this to be the case. I believe this is a function of importing a canvas. To solve that issue, I am not the person to be asking, as it is more a question for the design and modeling forum.  

Since it's all kind of sort of a spline, very few 2D operations can be used. This leaves you with plenty of 3D operations you can use, so all is not lost.

 

I've attached the model with toolpaths that I think will work. Please look through them and investigate my selections and parameters. I've not gone all out in programming the entire item, just enough to get you on your way. 

 

Please take note: This is not the exact same file you provided. I was looking at your part history and trying to play back (in my head) how you arrived at the object you had. I wasn't certain that how you extruded and joined was causing me grief, so I basically scrapped everything except the canvas and redid everything. In hindsight, that most likely was not needed, but I wanted to rule that out as the cause of grief.

 

In regards to the Pattern. I copy/pasted the object, rotating it around 10 degrees and offsetting accordingly. With this in mind, I essentially programmed 2 parts and with that you are able to pattern it out 2 more times in a linear fashion

Ok,

 

So, rotating the part and then using both as a pattern with two tool paths.  Seems so obvious now that you said it.  Thank you for pointing that out.

 

Now to the CAM.  As I understand, instead of doing a 2d pocket, you did a 3d pocket.  Took me a little while to figure that out.  Still learning the ropes here I guess.  I think that did it though.  2D pocket was still giving issues in your model, but that 3d pocket worked.  How might I approach this in the future to preserve 2d pockets as an option?  

 

A few small tweaks and hopefully I'll be ready to roll on this puppy.  Thanks for the help!

If you intend on importing canvases and other geometry from other sources, chance are that you are going to have to continue using 3D routines. As I mentioned above, nothing is recognized as a line or a curve, just sketch segments. Curious, where did you get the file that you imported as a canvas?

To use 2D, you will need cad files, such as .dxf's or just draw directly in Fusion. The other option would be to "simply" trace the canvas in Fusion, but with the part in question, that would have been a monumental undertaking
