Question about nesting/arrange workflow.

I have an assembly of components that I would like to cut all from the same sheet, the components are various shapes and have various features/surfaces machined into them.
I would like to focus on each discrete body and create the toolpaths I would like to cut and then once I have the cam done for each body/part take those parts and nest them into a sheet, this way the established cam toolpaths follow the parts through the nesting workflow.
Does this make sense and is it possible?
Do I always have to do my cam programming based on the flat pattern after it's been nested?
I'm fearful that Autodesk wants me to leverage model-aware toolpaths after the parts have been nested buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut 😞
I'm new to sheet routers and trying to wrap my head around what is the desired workflow for what I'm doing, I very much don't want to back myself into the corner of a messy workflow.
Suggestions outside my defined scope are appreciated too, thanks!
If this is possible with the nesting extension and not possible with the arrange tool that would definitely go a long way to justifying the cost for the extension to me.
