Process Material Library

I love what the Fusion team did with the ARRANGE function, so was eagerly anticipating the use of the NEST(ING) function.

Like others on the forum, I have gone through the videos, become sufficiently enticed, have had moderate success, and then hit a potential "user process" disappointment.  Or possibly a moment of stupidity on my part that, I am way beyond the pride point so fully throw myself in front of the masters for help.

When I edit the Process Material Library for my file design, it works well.  When I anticipate that the Process Material Library edits I have added will be common to new files that I make, I see that they are not.  Only the default entry shows up.  When I search for the methodology/preference settings to make the Process Material Library edits I have made common, which will be highly useful in all of my work, I cannot find help anywhere.  I would have thought that the utility of the Process Materials Library would be similar to the Tools Library, such that the tools that I have added will be available to other manufacturing files from that point onward.

Have I missed the obvious?  Is that a preference setting I have simply missed, or must I re-add all of the Process Materials Library edits each time I make a file comprised of multiple material components?

I appreciate in advance any help.

@k.j.larson ,

I'm glad you are enjoying the Arrange tool. Thanks for also trying out the Advanced Nesting extension preview and sharing your feedback here.

I can completely understand the confusion around Process Material Library and around creating Material Presets for future use. We are working cleaning it up a little and will also be adding some help documentation around this.

Under Fabrication > Manage there's 'Material and Packaging Presets'. This allows you to create (and set default) a 'Preset'. Clicking 'Add' allows you to create a new Preset by using the Materials and Packagings available in the current document. These presets get saved to your Assets folder (under a folder called Nest Materials) and are then available for use across different documents and also by different users within the same Project.

The 'Add from Provider' essentially allows you to add materials from one or more of your available Presets into the current document. In the event that you or another user may have updated the contents of a Preset that you may be using in your document, you can pull the latest changes by using 'Sync from Provider'.

Currently the 'Add from Provider' workflow has a bug where all materials added from a Preset will be added as 'Steel - thickness'. I will pass this onto the dev team. On the bright side, the packaging sizes do come through correctly during the step.

Thanks again for taking the time to share this feedback. It is much appreciated.

Regards,
