hi, in the company, i have a team that machine movement parts of a mould, in a dmg mori, and even probe in bigger machines.

but we having problem in small parts dmg mori 80, usually we have 2 setups, but we only probe the second setup, when the part is finished, but i have be found that most parts are death, allready have lack of material, or the part is deviated from the first to second setup.

now they want us to check probing in first and second setup.

can i probe a part with 2.5mm stock? do i have to change in probing cycle?

what means surface offset?

I think adding the 2.5mm to the surface offset should probe the part in the rough state like you want

I don't have the ability to try this and check as none of our machines can do surface inspection(No TCH cycle 4)

best way to find out is to try it and see what results you get.

Otherwise you could save the simulation stock as a mesh and import it back in and run surface inspection on the mesh of the part with 2.5mm stock on
