PROBING QUESTION

Anonymous
Not applicable

i WANT TO PROBE A STEP. i WANT TO FIND OUT HOW TALL A STEP IS, KIND OF LIKE USING A DEPTH MIC.

i NEED THE DISTANCE BETWEEN 2 PROBE POINT LOCATIONS IN THE Z AXIS.

i CAN PROBE A Z LOCATION EASY ENOUGH BUT WHEN YOU SELECT ANOTHER Z LOCATION THE OPTION TO SET PROBE TYPE CHANGES BACK TO UNSPECIFIED.

ANY IDEAS HOW i CAN ACCOMPLISH THIS?

We do have the ability with "Inspect Surface" inside of the Manufacturing Extension, but that's not something included in the core installation of Fusion360 (added expense).

Honestly, that's something I'd just likely use Finger CAM for, couple of copy and pastes and off to the races.

Hi @Anonymous,

This is not a cycle we currently support in Fusion but I will add this to our list of macros and votes, so please let us know when you have other cases as the more users ask the higher that macro goes on the list.

I have looked at the inspection plus manual and found this page.

Hopefully this shows the manual code to write to get this to work. Let me know how get on and I'm sure we can get it working between us.

By the looks of it you do the normal Z probe move with the G65P9834 after the first to store the data in P1. Then do the seccond Z probe move then G65P9834Z-5.0H0.1 to store the data in P2 use -5mm nominal and 0.1mm tolerance.

Thanks for the reply, but 1st what's "Finger Cam"?

Also the inspect geometry outputs a dimension from the Setup origin to the surface being inspected I didnt see anywhere that would output the difference between two different surfaces without creating a new setup origin point.

Entering in code manually is often referred to as "Finger CAM"
