Primary Tool Axis Mode

I'm trying to create a sphere with a pedestal for testing simultaneous 5-axis machining.
I want to manufacture with scallops in the tool direction at 45 degrees.
How should I set [Primary Tool Axis Mode] in the tool axis mode setting?
