[Pending] Toolpath issue

Hello,

I am experiencing a ''pending toolpath" issue on a desktop at work. I am still able to use the desktop while the issue pops up in Fusion 360 (ultimate). All other applications run noticably slower while the toolpath remains on ''pending'' status. In my case it has been on "pending" status for over 15 minutes now and nothing happens. It won't generate the toolpath. It popped up after I interupted the initial generation of the toolpath. It was on about 51% completion when I remembered I had to change something. I went to edit it and after I changed something it got stuck on "pending". It's a quite large 3D adaptive clearing toolpath for a large design. The geometry itself is not too complex I would say.

For confidentiality reasons I can't add a public link to the design here in the forum thread. I can PM a public link to the design to a moderator or an autodesk employee.

System specs:

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

12 GB RAM

Intel Xeon E5-1607 0 @ 3.00 GHz

AMD FirePro V4900 (FireGL V)

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Pascal

Hi @Anonymous

Can you send me the file and I'll see if it happens on my computer as well. It sounds like you might have a very small step down or stepover and it's getting hung up but it's hard to say for sure what the issue is without the file.

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

There could be a hung process: My suggestion is to check windows task manager (assuming you're using Fusion on Windows, if it is on a Mac, use the equivalent process manager) and find processes called camkernel-x64.exe, and kill these manually. Best is to quit Fusion first, so that you can be sure that these are hung processes.

It would be great to be able to recreate the problem as @AmandaFowler suggested, but I appreciate that you can't share the design, but if you can recreate the problem in a different design and can share that, please let us know.

Hello Amanda, Martin,

Cheers for the reply! For now the issue is resolved as the desktop at work did manage to complete the adaptive toolpath calculation after I restarted Fusion 360. After it was complete I have never tried to reproduce the issue though. It takes the hardware of the work desktop about 10-15 minutes to complete the toolpath calculation. I had to get back to the drawing table to adjust the design anyways so more fiddling with the adaptive toolpath will come later. If the issue pops up again I will report back here.

@AmandaFowler For the design it was important to be able to use the largest stepdown possible to reduce machining time. It was set to 30mm. The fine stepdown option was set to 5mm I think.

Thanks for your assistance, have a nice day!

I am having this issue with every toolpath I try to generate at the moment, regardless if it is facing or 3d contouring. Any suggestions?

EDIT - all sorted. It didn't work last night or this morning but it has just snapped out of it and come good.

Thanks,

Ariel
