Open ended slot with path beyond end

How can a tool path be generated for an open ended slot/pocket.  It must support multi-depths and extend slightly beyond the ends of the pocket (blanks  will have different lengths and path should not curve out of the slot and clip the corners.)

I've tried many options including trying to control the tool path with a sketch.  Cut must be from the top to preserve sharp corners at the bottom.   Yes, I could make a new model 0.1" longer and it would work fine but am sure here is a better way!  Thanks

How about 2d profile with tangential extension and multiple depths? Files attached.
