open contour not chaining

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

I am trying to machine a simple open contour but it will only select one line (or fillet) at a time giving me 5 chains when I only want 1 continuous chain.

How do I make it join all of them into one chain? I've used fusion a couple of times before and not had this problem, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Richard

Click on your first line. Click on it again.

Watch this screencast, that should help

Thanks for that, worked a treat.

My only other question would be why did I have to do that now, when previously it has chained everything first time?

Thanks,

Richard

Are you working on the same exact part as last time? If you went from selecting features off of a model and now you are selecting them off of a sketch, that is one possibility. If you have the sketch turned on as well as the model, it often (not always) favors the sketch entity. Sometimes sketches aren't the best option, especially if it was an imported file

I was creating the toolpath from just a sketch, which was a different sketch from the last one which did not create this issue, although that was a closed contour.

I only needed a simple toolpath so I did not see the point of taking the geometry any further...

Thanks again for the help,

Richard

I need the sound to learn from this. How can I view it with sound?

Thanks a lot.

There was no audio.

It's pretty simple. Click on a line, it will select the entire contour. Click on it again and a small box pops up. Select the "Open" box and select what you need, click the green + sign.

Alternatively, press the ALT key and make your selection. That will create an open chain on that one selected edge
