With the new release of functionality in Selections for Manufacturing, we have discovered two major defects in migrating old chains for 2D Contour and Pockets over to the new architecture.
We have already identified these bugs and prepared fixes for them, they will be pushed out in a unplanned hot-fix.
In the mean time, please do take great care in re-validating your old Strategies using Closed Contours and 2D Pockets.
The issues seem to be isolated with certain cases of 2D Contour reversing the direction of the curve for 2D Contour strategies. The best way to work around this currently has been to delete the old curve and re-chain a new one.
2D Pocket Issue is around the boundary for the walls/open areas becoming lost for older strategies. Turning on a FF for 2D Pocket Legacy Detection has been correcting this issue and we urge users to turn on this preview until the HotFix can go out. Another way to circumvent this issue is to use Chain instead of Pocket selection for these toolpaths.
There are other known limitations at the time for the release that we will work on improving over the next few release cycles.
- For changing Extensions for all chains at once in an operation: they have to be changed individually
- For Expressions in Extensions: expressions technically work, but operation parameters are not accessible
- For Expressions in Pocket Recognition: expressions technically work, but operation parameters are not accessible
- For Extensions in 2D Chamfer: they cannot be specified yet
- For Extensions with Stock contour: only tangential extensions are supported
- For reusing geometry selections in a different setup: absolute coordinates are not used, which might cause transformation issues
- You might be forced to wait while Pocket Recognition calculates, since it cannot be calculated in the background
We understand the disruption that this has caused and are working around the clock to rectify the issues as soon as possible.
Thank you!
