Need help with project/include for creating geometry for soft jaws

I'm stuck on figuring out how to project the geometry of the attached part for  machining the soft jaws to remove the carrier material and do the second op of drilling and tapping.  I'm set up with the carve smart jaws so I'm planning on holding the first op with mittee bite talon holders then machining aluminum soft jaws for the second op. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Roger

Personally, I would approach it like this -

  1. Create soft jaw bodies.
  2. Project side profiles onto soft jaw faces.
  3. Draw (3) circles tangent to the part profile for dowel pins.
  4. Use dowel pins to position part.
  5. Preserve soft jaw faces for another day.

Thank you for the reply, that's a lot easier, faster and slicker.  What function did you use to project from the profile?

There's no harm, of course, in milling full 3D soft jaws, but the their main advantage holding curved surfaces. You've got nice flat sides to clamp onto, so the only challenge is positioning against that bottom slant. You can, of course, use bigger pins if you feel you need them. They only need to project out far enough to catch the centerline of your part.

Lots of ways to get the sketch geometry - one quick approach attached.

As someone who is new to Fusion 360 but is proficient in Mastercam, I find this video extremely helpful.
