Need help, CAM 2D contour doesn't keep climb milling when use Ramp

Hi everyone, I'm a luthier and use fusion 360 to cut guitar body. There's a problem when I use 2D contour.

I use multi-depths to cut the contour, everything is good but when I add a Ramp, it doesn't cut in one way.

For example, this is what I want:

The toolpath is cutting in one way with a ramp, but it doesn't work on another body when I set everything the same.

It starts to ramp as a reverse way, and it won't keep in climbing mill. It turns back at one point and turns back again when it reaches this point again.

It makes me crazy all day...Please some advices.

Thanks

Could you share your Fusion file?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply.

Question; when using "Ramp", does that not give you the same effective result as "Multiple Depths"? Or is there something offered in application of Multiple Depths where it AND Ramp?

Thanks for your reply, and I attached my file.

And yes, I think it's not the same effective.

What I want is the tool path starts at ramping, when it reaches one depth like 8mm it stops ramp and keep cutting in 8mm depth. when one contour circle is cut then it starts ramping to next 8mm depth and cut. The ramping and cutting should be in a same climb milling way. However, in this toolpath the ramping is alway in a reverse way.

Hi, your file was empty (at least for me).  But, you want to ramp down 8mm, take a level cut, ramp again, etc.  Did you try ramping constantly to the bottom, but with 8mm max depth...  that means it will make 1 turn of your part while ramping, and when it gets back to the start point, it will be 8mm lower than when it started.  Then it carries on ramping to full depth.  This might save a bit of time because there is no need to do a full cut around anymore, you will never be deeper than 8mm at any point.

Couldn't try the reversing effect tho because file was empty.

Thank you for your suggestions, I tried it and it still got a reverse ramp toolpath. I'm not sure what happened to my file I attached, I download it and open with no problem.

Thanks.

This time I could open your file.  I tried a whole bunch of stuff, redid the operation from scratch, but just like you, I can't make it work.  I hope someone else will be able to figure this out for you, it's a weird one it seems... 😞

You could use 3d ramp toolpath to get out of it (see pic below).   2.png

May I get some 3d ramp settings pics from you? I don't know how to setup it like the pic you send, I tried and it always cut full of the body instead of outer contour

Here are the main tabs, I think you can figure out the rest, but if not let me know exactly what else you'd like to see.

To start higher up, you might have to create a dummy body of the bottom body.  Just extrude it to the height that you'd like to start.

HI @sloveyang

Thanks for posting to the forum and for letting us know about your experience. This issue is submitted by a few users on the forum and the issue is escalated to the development team by creating the internal ticket. I have found a similar issue that one of our customers is experiencing for which an internal ticket is raised to the dev team and I have attached yours. f3d file for further review on this.

We expected to ramp the tool along with the selected closed profile in a single direction, which is not working in an expected way.

I will update you about the status of this report (CAM-13821) As I receive information.

Thanks,

Pramod
