Modified Design Generates Undesirable Path

I've used a couple of selection tricks that I learned here but nothing is generating the desired path. On the back of the truck where the lower tree bow touches the top of the side of the truck bed. I have an engrave there that stops mid stride does some other stuff then comes back but never completes that cut.

I've recreated the line several ways. The only thing that fixes this is removing the engrave line of the tree bow.

What in the world is going on here?

As a sort of quick fix, I duplicated the contour (it's actually a contour i'm using not an engrave) then used one for the body lines and the other for the tree bow lines. I'm satisfied.

**edit** just figured out what was causing the problem in the first place. I had my red arrow on the wrong side of the selected geometry. Sorry guys. Hopefully this can help someone someday.
