Mill/turn question

Hello all,

 

In a search for a new machine we were wondering if fusion is capable with it. The machine is a mill/turn (lathe) with a XYZ axis, a C axis on the main spindle and it has a subspindle. 

So before we search for a machine we wanted to know if fusion has the ability to write code for such a machine?

Hello!!

I have used Fusion extensively with a Haas ST25-y lathe. It meets all the criteria mentioned in your post.

I must say Fusion is pretty bad ass when it comes to mill/turn. I have done some pretty complicated stuff with it in mill/turn. Even some continuous C axis work.

Using machine in setup has no practical purpose at this point, it's part of future simulation upgrade. For purpose of programming work using main spindle and Y/C capability, pick post closest to your machine configuration and adopt G/M codes to your specific control.

As for sub spindle work, I haven't had much need for it but Fusion has capability, you select secondary spindle in setup, everything else in setup is the same as for main spindle and post processor handles the conversion at output of G code.

 

Edit:

One more setting in setup if using sub spindle, you must set work offset for main spindle to 1 and for sub spindle to 2 , that outputs G54 for main and G55 for sub spindle.
