Machining a round coil using 4th axis without machining extension

is it possible to machine such feature with 4th axis without machining extension? coil size and pitch is 14mm with no tight tolerances. I've been thinking about using 14mm endmill and just rotating the part on A axis and moving the tool along X axis. would it be possible to generate such toolpath in fusion? How would You approach it?

Yeah, but I don't have the manufacturing extension. So i guess it's not possible without it.

Accepted solution

You can machine using 2D Contour. However, when using non-chamfer tools in 2D Contour, the toolpath can only offset left or right along the selected contour. Therefore, with chamfer tools, the tool will be centered on the machining contour as long as no chamfer width is set.

I guess I can trick fusion by programming my ball endmill as a chamfer tool and use this technique. Thanks a lot!

one last question! I can't recreate what I've done on my first uploaded file. Now when I'm creatng a coil it generates the 3d sketch on the outside of the coil. Do you know how to recreate it so that it generates the sketch on the inside as it did in my first file?
