Machining a bowl

I am wondering what toolpath I could use to machine out a simple bowl shape and an angled slot shape.  I have been playing around with a bunch of options but I can't figure it out.  Just for fun I am trying to use an .125" ball nose.angled slot.JPGbowl.JPG

Scallop, Ramp, Morph or Spiral would all be my first choices for finishing toolpaths. For Roughing, it's hard to beat a 3D Adaptive or Pocket Clearing

Seems so simple.  I swear I tried that already but you probably hear that all the time....

 

Follow up question:  when I do the spiral toolpath everything looks good except the toolpaths continue on well above the necessary point of contact which will add a lot of time to the job.  Do you know how I can get the toolpath to end at the material surface rather than continuing on beyond the z level of the stock?

Check your Heights tab. Looks like Top height is set to "stock top". (?)

it was set to .2 and I had played around with different numbers but they didn't seem to have any affect on the toolpath height

well there you go. It doesn't keep track of your model when you do that, basically just repeats the original pass but with +Z offsets. Use 3D adaptive if you truly want to rough out material beforehand.
