Hi all

first off happy holiday to those ready for this before or after Christmas I am looking to get ahead on some of my work but looking for help and learn from others how people hit this part on how they hold it on a 5-axis  and finish this part if want to know the stock I have for this is 205x160x 65mm have lang work holding.

sam_coull_0-1734959110704.png

this is how holding at the moment or should say where I start at any other way of holding and machine good also from people experience

I require help and ideas on the best way to attack this part and mainly finish inside the box this part is linked on the cv5 500 5axis machine.

I haven't used or had a chance to use the multi-axis tool path with a barrel mill the tools which I think finishes faster.

i know I could ball nose all the walls but that takes time.  I already planning to use geodesic to hit all the 1mm rads in the corner to finish them

but I am open to all and any ideas or examples holding part get most of the part done

I also roughed/finished the inside of this box

also, is there any good video on how to use multi-axis finishing to  program it be helpful also

look forward to reading some amazing helpful ideas I hope

again thanks for the time and hope all have good holidays

sam

Hi

That's a pretty horrible part with the small corner radii.

First thing I would Do I go and see the designer and see if at least the Vertical Corners could have the Radii increased to something reasonable like R4-6

If that's not possible then your in for a lot of surfacing with a ballnose to clean out the corners.

The File you uploaded has not setups or tools or anything so I don't know what tooling you have access to.
