Locking probe-type?

I have to measure 8 places on a part and we are now doing 12 parts at a time. Each point has to update a fresh work offset (g154 p1-p88). I have cylinders modeled at the locations required and for some reason when I go to select another cylinder, the probe type is automatically changing to cylinder boss even though I have Z surface already selected. Is there a way I can lock this? I don't look forward to changing 88 selection points, let alone also changing it back to z surface unnecessarily.

It happens whether or not its a cylinder or square. It happens if I select the 2nd parts face then deselect part 1 - it'll still change it to Boss despite already being Z surface

I'm trying to visualize your setup, could you share a photo (assuming it doesn't violate confidentiality)

This should help. I have points 1-8 per part.

Right, but I'm more curious about your Setup. Do you have multiple Setups, or are you using the "Multiple WCS" option in the Setup? Do you have a probing operation for each piece?

Does this help you? We've made about 180 parts with this process (2pcs at a time) and it works so now we have to upgrade it to 11pcs

Hmm. Somehwat? Everytime I create a probing cycle, I'm getting just a XY Circular boss.

Any chance you could DM me the link to the file?

I emailed it to your liberty email - can't find a way to DM on here. Thanks.

Okay...I'm seeing the issue. I don't have an immediate solution to the problem, but perhaps I can offer you a workaround? Set your points where you need, but don't bother setting to Z face each time. You can then shift select all your probing cycles, right click and select Compare and Edit. You can then make a global change that will turn them all to the desired type. Does that help at all?

Thanks, that will work for now. Still seems odd that it would reset! It almost feels like it's behaving in a top-to-bottom behavior inside the window.
