Lift tool between stepovers

Hey guys

May seem like a simple question but I cant seem to find a way to allow the tool to raise between step overs on a horizontal tool path or pocket clearing.  The final finish shows marks where the tool repositions.

Have read about offsetting contour in sketch and doing a 2d contour for each step over, but that seems are rather bodge way of doing it.

Thanks

Have you tried using the "Use Morphed Spiral Machining" option? This does not usually use the "transition" moves so may be a better option for your finish 🙂 🙂 🙂

Stay Safe

Hi Rob

No I haven't.  I will have a play with that and see if it works.  Thanks for the tip.

Yes, that does remove the transitions but it also makes the finish look like a form of adaptive clearing. It would be nice if it would lift and ramp down into the next layer.

Have you tried "lift height" on the linking tab? I don't know if this will help with your particular issue, but will raise the tool up above the surface when linking cutting paths.
