Lathe Rough /Finish

Is there any way possible to get the old rough and finish in one op back?

It worked great on the type of long parts we do.

With the new style our tree is twice as long.

@johnsonh

You can access the old strategy by turning on the feature flag "old-turning-profile-strategy". But bear in mind, this old strategy will soon be phased out because we are adding a lot of new features and bug fixes to the new strategies which won't be going into the old strategy.

To turn on the old strategy you can type cam.f in the text box and press enter, then check on the feature flag i mentioned above.

We will be looking into the issue of having a finishing strategy associated with a roughing strategy that will improve the workflow if you are using both roughing and finishing to machine the exact same geometry.

It was a lot faster for the same geometry copied multiple times.

Thanks

Here is an example of a nightmare

with the new system.

If you do machine the same kind of geometry on the same part, it might be a better workflow for you to pattern a roughing and finishing operation so it will be duplicated along Z.

I will look into that.  Thanks

I always used duplicate and then adjusted the boundary.

Sorry, I had not seen your part before I replied. Ignore my reply please. Are you machining this on a Swiss type lathe?

No,  A Hurco TM6.

I cut them like this so I don't get flex.

I use the 1" dia for support.

If someone had a better way to cut them I'm all ears.

I'm new to the cnc lathe.

Ran machining centers for 27 years.

This is currently working for us.

I'll create a task to address your situation. There might be a better way of doing this rough + finish segmenting inside the software than duplicating operations. In the meantime, it might be useful to post your specific question about preventing flex on the forum. I know we have a lot of people active on here with good practical knowledge about machining hacks.
