Issue with Steep and Shallow

I have never gotten steep and shallow to generate a single tool path on multiple part files. Here is my latest reson why it cannot generate a toolpath

Debug: Using CAM kernel from: C:\Users\Xenium CNC\AppData\Local\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\e113e9d43debbfa9688c2f48660c996392f06b10\Applications\CAM360\camkernel.exe

Error: Failed to configure dcamcomponents.

Can you share a file where this issue presented itself?
File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply. If you can't post the file publicly, you can email it to me: seth dot madore at autodesk dot com

There wasnt an option for .f3d, So i did .f3z?

I was also having an issue where in my second fixture operation where the program wasnt accounting for rest machining from previous operations. I begrudging worked around by saving the stock from the previous 3 operations and then defining rest machining as from file. But come on...

.f3z is absolutely fine. Are you able to attach the file here for us? We've had an earlier report about the "Failed to configure dcamcomponents" error but no data that could reproduce it on our side.

As for your rest machining over several setups scenario - indeed it is a right pain to do at the moment. The good news is that we have a team working right now on changing this experience. I'm not in a position to report on their progress but I'm sure they'll let you know.

Sorry, I was away this weekend. Looks like you may have tried to share a file, but nothing came through. .F3Z is only able to be shared when it's been dumped in a .zip file. So please do so and share again 🙂

Thanks for the files. have you had a chance to try again since the last September update was rolled out (Monday night)? Because I couldn't reproduce your problem - I can generate Steep and Shallow toolpaths just on your models.

It would help to know whether you still have the problem in the latest update.

I am still getting the error "failed to configure dcamcomponents."

In the log interestingly enough was the following:

Debug: Autodesk DCAM Kernel Error finding version. (4aaad4044bc0755378c086fafb354b9b5df88a8d) 2019/07/18 12:00

Please do. It is terribly frustrating when I have jobs due and things I'm paying for are not working.

Hi,

I've managed to reproduce a similar (although not identical) problem, and I wonder if it could be related.

Could you trying installing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/VC_redist.x64.exe) and see if you still get the problem?

Thanks

Is there a reason Steep and shallow does not have avoid/touch surface?

I'll have to get back to you on touch/avoid.

Can you confirm whether what I suggested with the VC++ redist resolved your 'failed to configure dcamcomponents' issue? If so I can look at getting that fixed so that it's not necessary in future.

Thanks

Yes Steep and shallow is now generating tool paths after installing VC++ redist

re. touch/avoid - the team has been busy implementing it for steep & shallow, and it should be available very soon.
