Is there a way to speed up selecting hundreds of surfaces

Hi,

I make molds for small parts. Many times I have to select hundreds of features for an operation. When I hit 200, things really slow down and I get the black bar at left, and Not Responding which slows this up a lot.

Is this a display slowdown? 

I'm currently selecting 640 features and am halfway done...ug.

Any help with this is appreciated Greatly !!

Could you share an image or a file that represents what you're trying to accomplish? I'm wondering if there is a better way to do things.. 🤔

The only toolpaths where you NEED to select surfaces is Flow, Blend and Geodesic

 

If you are using other toolpaths its better to contain things with a boundary selection which is much simpler.

 

For geodesic you can also select the entire body to pick all the surfaces and then contain where you want to machine with a boundary selection.

 

I'm not sure if there are ways of dragging a selection window around for surface selection, there doesn't appear to be

I've dealt with this by selecting half of them, then making a new setup with the X reversed. 2 programs but hey, saves my fingers.

I'm wondering If using face contours rather than edge selections are causing it to bog down.

 

To program that part I would select the 8 chains for one arm then put the toolpath into a Circular pattern, it will be much less taxing on your computer as the toolpath only has to calculate on one instance of the pattern

I've used a circular pattern with my older machines (an Anilam) but don't know how to do that in Fusion.

right click the path and select Add to New Pattern, then do circular around the center point. 

if your doing Scallop or other 3D paths, consider restraining NOTHING but the height first, then add in some Avoid Surfaces. I never actually select what I "want" to machine.
