is it possible to select and machine a specific face on a mesh-generated solid?

I'm making a craft project;

when I was machining the object on the finishing pass, it became apparent that the milling head had lost z-vertical and the 'SW-facing' faces were not getting milled properly. Looks like this:

 

I let it complete and removed the stock, with a plan to sand the resulting piece to remove the tool marks which remained,

but I wonderd if it would have been somehow possible to select JUST those faces and perform another finishing pass on them after re-adjusting the cutting tool. I tried and couldn't figure out how to do it. 

This would be really helpful to know. thanks for any input.

I think most of the 3d ops have an option Touch\Avoid surface, if you select touch surface you can select the faces to machine. I'm not sure it would have helped you though because it looks like you will have removed more material from one side and not enough from the other.

so how does that touch surface option work? 
I set that up IN the CAM setup, not select it before?

Don't know the op you're using but it'll look like this, just select the faces to machine.

Press some buttons and experiment you're not going to break anything, well not until you run the code on the machine
