Improved Addaptive Tollpath Algorithm

Good afternoon

How are you?
Thank you for taking the time to read the following email.
Yesterday, I was machining aluminum and the following problem occurred.
At a certain point, a thin sheet  remains, and when the tool passes over it again, it breaks and damages the tool. I'm sure you've noticed this in your shop, My question is, is it possible for you to improve the logic of how the operation is performed?

In this or similar cases, use a movement parallel to the wall to avoid this, as you can see in the video.

Ah, the "rib of death". We've had many attempts at improving this over the years and they've fallen short of expectations. At present, we don't have any plans on diving into the 3D Adaptive toolpath to improve this behavior. However, we do have another toolpath being developed that hopes to provide a solution. It's an automated roughing toolpath and will be a part of the Machining Extension.

With the 3D Adaptive, it is possible to avoid this rib by using a couple of Boundary containments

Ive never had a tool break because of it in 7+ years, why is it that some people do? Even in Ti it's been ok.

You can also sometimes add modifier bodies to change the shape of the toolpath to make it behave how you want it to.

Please click "Accept Solution" if what I wrote solved your issue!

I have never broken a tool due to this anomaly, but we both know that it can damage the cutting edge of the tool and, depending on the material being machined, break.

But even in adaptive 2D operation this anomaly can occur.
