How to select the contour of a violin.

Trying a 2d contour selection of the outside shape of the violin. I almost had it right but then I get a double selection . That doesn’t look right to me. I had help years ago on this topic it was mentioned to create a plane and project the geometry. If I remember correctly.

One of your Red arrows looks like it is pointing in the wrong direction ??

 

 

If you can upload your f3d file it would help with diagnostics 🙂

My best practice here would be to make a continuous closed sketch projected from the violin external geometry onto a plane, probably the Mid plane of the Z high and Z low surface

 

Then you can select either that sketched segment, make it a closed contour, or select the whole Sketch (with no other included geometry) from the browser window

When you say "double selection" what do you mean?  

 

@dwilliamsFM6K4 has a good suggestion,  you probably already have a outline sketch of the belly, you should be able to use that.  if not you can do a body project to a new sketch.

 

BTW nice model.   did you do it yourself?
