How to export a body from fusion to a file that a CNC company can Read?

Hi, I wonder if there is a way to export full bodies like the pictures I've attached?

I need to Send it to  a company so they can Cnc machine this parts in aluminum.

I've leaned that you can can sketch flat planes through the ''P'' project feature.

But how about a body with holes, threads and etc...?

I've tried to print the rounded one with the teeth on it, but the quality wasn't good  for me to send as a sample to the company.

They asked me for a DWG file and a DXF.

I found a DXF converter, and the company told me that the file is only a 3d view, there's no tolerance and sketch on it.

Thanks

There is also the ability to export as an .igs or .stp file format:

Hi Seth thanks for the reply.

Didn't know this ''create drawing from design'' function thanks.

But isn't there an easier solution than having to redraw the entire piece?

I could do that in photoshop, wouldn't need fusion 360 for that.

I've tried already the stp files, and no company accepts that.

is seems to me that Fusion 360, it's only a 3d printing software.

I Was so excited when it came out so I wouldn't  have to hire a Autocad expert to create my business  parts, now I'm back on square one again.

Unless you give me a solution for that 🙂

thanks

Uh...

"Create Drawing from Design" does not require you to redraw the entire piece. Select the model you need a drawing for (in this case, the active document) set your views, add some dimensions, boom. There's your print.

.iges and .step files are relatively universal 3D models. If they can't open those, I'd be curious what vintage software they are using.

Fusion is more than a 3D printer software, a lot more.

I suggest watching this video. It is a bit dated, but it makes it rather easy to understand the flow needed for the drawing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1yML0W-jdw

Of course, Drawings is a module that is still in need of work, but there is enough there for you to get your idea to a CNC machine shop

Thanks Sr. You have just saved my day.

I'll dig into this function to to learn all the functions properly and drop those Dimensions and than export as DWG.

I'll follow your tips, thank you very much for your concern.

Hi

My CNC company would prefer getting a solid model, over a print, any day.

Export it as a .STP and they can open it up in whatever program they use.

If they can't figure that out, might want to consider a different machine shop...

Unfortunately, you cannot yet attach tolerances into a Fusion model, so you will still need both.

And yeah, if they can't open those two file types, they might still be cranking handles and running off a Tandy T100
