How to assign the rough and finish cut?

Hello everybody,

I would like to assign rough and finish cut on my specimen as follows:

Program the part to take a roughing cut that leaves .254mm - .508mm of material on the outer shape of the part. Then come in and take a finish pass that cuts the .254mm off. The finish pass will clean up the entire outer shape.

Could you please help me with how to adjust this in Fusion 360? (I have attached my .f3d file).

Thanks,

Faezeh

What exactly do you mean by a "cut that leaves .254mm - .508mm" Which value are we looking for?
And when you say "cut the entire outer shape" how do you want to address the tabs that selected in the current operation?

Hello @seth.madore , I mean have an offset in roughing cut and remove the offset in the finishing cut.

I would have two toolpaths, one with the offset and then one without

You could enable multiple finish passes.

This will do 2 passes at each level. If you only need to finish at full depth also check finish only at final depth.

You've had a few problems in the past trying to machin this part like in this post. It's hard to tell if this is down to the rigidity of your machine or your setup. It might be worth trying to screw the stock down so you know it can't move to rule that out.
