How to allow axial cutting with round lathe insert?

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am trying to turn a top as show below and I am running into and issue. I have this internal curve on the top of the top and I can not get the round cutter to push into. I have tried a few different tool definitions to no avail. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

@smunzer8ZZFW Looks like a bug. I will make a ticket for it.

Do you know of any alternative toolpath I could use here?

A workaround would be to use a grooving insert with a face grooving holder to machine the same operation and set the grooving parameter to "allow radial and axial grooving". i am getting what looks like the desired toolpath.

When I try to recreate your tool paths so that I can do them on the opposite side, i seem to always get this message in the attached photo. It only happens when i select the facing version of the round tool.

Update: after playing with the tool path, when I changed the clearance to the back of the holder, then the path was generated.
