How do I use CAM with multiple components?

Hello,

I am currently using Fusion 360 and still learning. The problem is this: I have an entire assembly of components, all which need to function in unity, or else all are completely useless.

So when trying to use the Manufacture/CAM side of Fusion 360, it was surprising that I can only focus on a work area with all components, or none and this boggles my mind.

So the question is, How do I separate these? I used a practice model, only to find the entire model with the on/off "Light Bulb". DO I need to export STL files and import them as separate components or, save these components as separate files?

Thank you.

You can individually toggle visibility in the CAM space. You can also use the Derive command to make a linked copy that you can manipulate as it's own file for CAM purposes, but which will still be linked back to the original assembly.
And of course you can do a "save copy as" and make entirely separate files in which to do your CAM for each part.
Lots of ways to do it, it really depends on your workflow.

I tend to model my whole setup including vises, fixtures, machine bed, etc so I usually just have one part to one file, and if they started in an assembly I will separate them for simplicity's sake.

Thank you, Nick.

This is far more complicated than I thought it would be.

As far as toggling goes, I tried to do that. The entire assembly is in one little light bulb.

Nothing is separate.

As far as making the table, vises and all of that, you are obviously an engineer versed in this.

I have no idea how to use CAM, let alone making the machine and other tools that I am using.

I will look into this "Derive Command".

If you can upload an F3D file (File>Export) I can take a look at what you have and maybe provide some insight into how you can approach this. Maybe I can put together a screencast and give a 5 or 10 minute demo on some different approaches.

I can not share anything right now. I appreciate the consideration, though.

@Anonymous if you are very new to Fusion, I strongly suggest availing yourself to some of the following resources:

Fusion Tutorials

What you are looking to do isn't really all that hard, actually. Next to the lightbulb is a little arrow that you can then expand into it's full directory:

Thank you!

It was right before my eyes, how did I miss it?
