Help with "engrave" toolpath

Not applicable

I've got a part that needs a line cut below surface. I've selected doing it with a 45 Degree chamfer tool and following the middle of the groove in the solid model.

Due to NDA, cannot post part, but I have attached a screenshot of what im trying to do. Z up I want perpendicular to the flat surface where the groove is. and it has to roll around the corners, and up and down the radii on the face.

I dont even know what tool path to even begin with. On a UMC-500SS

TIA

Start off with trying the 2D Trace toolpath, it will follow slopes, radii etc in the Z axis.

If you have a multiaxis machine then try the "Multi Axis Contour"

Stay Safe

I've tried the Multi axis contour, as well as 2d trace, neither have had good luck so far.

Depending on how you want to do it, have a look at traces in the 3D tool paths, it is the 3D version of traces doing it as an index should work.

Can you do an offset surface of the outside of the model and post that(or just try it for your self) this makes it really hard to know what it is, also sometimes this will make a better toolpath than the model by a country mile.
