Help with Program Stratergy ...

Hey Guys,

Just after some advice and pointers on getting a part finish better the current outcome.

I have attached a file and the fillet we are trying to figure out how to machine correctly and safely.

The orientation on the Image is correct as it sits on a Trunion Table on a Vice, and is rotated 90° in both directions to complete the part.

The actual part is not a Cylinder Shape, but a lofted profile, but I assume the fillet machine process will be the same.

(Just to protect the customers wishes, I haven't posted the actual part... And yeah there are multiple side by side, so clearance is not 100% accessible... They are about 40mm Apart from memory)

We are using a HAAS VF-3 if that makes any difference.

I have tried a pencil path, a profile path, and a parallel path, but don't seem to be able to get a decent finish.

I has a stock clearance which leaves 0.5mm prior to this process.

Any help or guidance will be welcomed ...

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Old Flow gives a not bad result on your example, It may not work on the actual part though, hard to tell.

you will need to turn on in Preferences

Geodesic works pretty well too but I had to make a drive surface for it

Is that what you mean?

I copied the model in a manufactureing model and divided the surface to be machined and removed the holes on the flange.

Sorry guys - been away for personal reasons ...
This looks like a great way to get the work done.
I am going to go ahead and try these strategies this week, and I will get back to you on success.

Thanks heaps for the heads up.
