Your model needs to be made a solid before you try anything else, highlight the model with a left to right-drag then in the surfaces workspaces stitch it to together, then delete all the empty components folders.

The file you attached has no setups or toolpaths in it. We have no idea where you are running into trouble or what has gone wrong. Please share something that shows some attempts at a toolpath, as well as your other sample piece that you mentioned in your first thread.

Are you planning on making this cylinder? If so, there are some issues with the cylinder. The flutes are supposed to strengthen the cylinder, but yours have stress risers. There are others. I have a lot of experience manufacturing cylinders. If you would like, we could talk about it.

What machine are you going to be machining this on, there are a lot of ways it can be done.

Now the ball endmill has been used; eliminating the stress riser in the flutes. For aesthetics, try raising the tool in the Z axis while continuing in the Y axis. Check it out.

Here is one way to do a toolpath in Fusion.

There are a few different ways to do toolpaths in Fusion from sketches to surfaces like above defeaturing a model so on.

Any other questions fire away or If I am going to fast in the screencast I can do it again slower.

What is shown is not a finishing toolpath also there are mistakes in the video and a fix just for reference.

Here is a link to the type of cutter often used for fluting a cylinder:  https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/03170339

This will allow the flute to have 2 different radii.

Of course you could use a ball end mill in a CNC, as it can travel in 2 axis at once.

How do you get 2 different radii with that cutter?

1/4" Radius x 3" Diam (which has a radius of 1-1/2").

@mesacrash  That is a milling cutter I don't think it would work too well with mill turn.

it manually but...

Read the attached file, please. I think you may enjoy it. It is from the archives of American Handgunner magazine 1997. I am Charlie in the article.

@mesacrash  pretty cool stuff! Man, I remember buying that magazine when I was a kid. Best expenditure of summer job income (in my eyes anyways)

Welcome to the world of CNC!
