Wanting to cut notch in the material. Need to cut across material in Y full depth in Z .12 woc leaving .015 for

full depth finish. Cheated at work and used plain square model. But unable after many tries to get model of

actual material to machine. Please see attached files.

Thanks,

Hey Pathfinder,  see the attached.  I first made one of your existing sketches visible in CAM so I could see the notch you created.  Then in geometry tab of the 2d contour I changed your stock contour to use the sketch notch boundary.

The key here is actually not defining the stock boundaries at all, and you can chain 2D geometry from 3D features.

I made a screencast that should help clear things up:

Edit: I see that @dmartinS68QJ has beaten me to a different solution! Nice that there's more than one way to solve a problem, right?

Thanks for the video. I was able to duplicate. Will mark as solution. Improvement in selecting the surface that is created

from machining would be nice.

Thanks,

A VersaNotcher tubing notcher and pipe notching machine can make notch cuts. It has quick-release cam locks for fast precision adjustment. No assembly is required. The tube notcher mounts easily in a bench vise.
