So i need to cut these two slots (see image below). I've tried several tool path options but can not get the silhouette to work in just these two slots.

@Anonymous

Have you tried using the "Trace" toolpath for those slots ??

@engineguy  yeah, but just the slot. not the rest of the perimeter. the full perimeter will  be done when I flip the piece over.

I'll give trace  try.

note, the slots are .166" and I'm using a 1/8" mill if that helps anything. I forgot to add that in my initial post.

OK, understand, with a slot of 0.166 and a tool of 0.125 then you can easily use a simple 2D Contour, the key is in the selection, to select only the three edges of the slots you need to hold down the "Alt" key on your keyboard as in the image below, sample file also attached 🙂 🙂 🙂

Then fine tune your speeds/feeds/leads etc, etc to suit 🙂

@engineguy OK thanks. I didn't know about the alt key.

I did find a cheat by creating a 2D sketch that was derived from the body and applied a 2D contour to the sketch.

I will try your way too.

thanks for help!

much appreciated.
