Haas Post Bug and Error still not fixed

I reported two bugs/errors with the Haas NGC post that supports probing in April 2025. This is still open. This is rather frustrating as it looks like Autodesk focuses on adding new bells and whistles instead of fixing the bugs/errors that are key for manufacturing and production. The case number is 24250346.

The bugs errors involves the following:

1)  Fusion generating a message indicating that the tool length exceeds the machine specification. The error is that the calculation uses the total length of the tool bit instead of the length below the tool holder

2) The Fusion post does not accept alphanumeric file names and only accepts numbers as file names, despite the HAAS NGC supporting alphanumeric file name for more than 13 years.

Hi,

Could you attach a copy of your post? This can easily be fixed on your end, so you can continue on without having to wait on Autodesk to update it in the library.

1) where? Mine doesnt.

2) pretty sure my post allows for it! I can use numbers and letters.

Hi

Yes, I used  the post: Haas Next Generation Inspection 2.cps which I then modified to accept alphanumeric file names.  But now there is a new version: Haas Next Generation Inspection 3.cps. This requires me to have to modify the post every time there is a new release. This seems to have been going on for 13 years now as this is how long the NGC has been available. Is it not time now to fix this one and for all other people using it?  As engineer, I feel this is waste of time and I have better things to do. I feel that Autodesk should focus more on fixing long known bugs instead of adding bells and whistles.

The issue about the tool length parameter is another bug in the processor that I don't have time to fix every time there is a new release. The tool length is irrelevant and should not be used in any calculations. The only length parameter that has value is the tool stick out length.  The bug is that the post processor gives a warning that the tool length is outside the machine parameters as it uses the tool length instead of the stick out length.

Please fix these bugs!

Hi, my comments relate to the post: Haas Next Generation Inspection 3.cps. The issues have been confirmed by Fusion Support and the case is still open.

Please indicate which post you are using, if it is for milling and if it supports probing and inspection as well as saving alphanumeric file names.
Also do a test: see what happens when you increase the tool length of a tool to 300mm. If you get a warning then that post has the same bug.

I am new to Haas, just setting up a new VF2SS machine. Which post would you recommend?

Thanks, Unfortunately, I am not able to find the post you refer to under the Fusion Libraries for Haas: https://cam.autodesk.com/hsmposts. Your post name is dated 2023 so most likely, it does not have the latest improvements and fixes. Are you maintaining that yourself?

Hi @eondekoker

1. Known bug reported to the development team earlier this year. Ideally the maximum tool length in the machine definition refers to the spindle face to the tool tip which is (Holder Length + Length Below holder) now in Fusion which is called the gauge length. Currently the Fusion compares aganist the overall length which is wrong.

2. When you create a program in Haas you have two things one is O number and other is File name

boopathisivakumar_0-1750606457874.png

the O number will be inside the nc program at the top of the file. and O number has to be a number of 5 digits it cannot supports alphabets.

but the filename can be alphanumberical
