Fusion will not post NC files

After posting several files over the last few days Fusion stopped posting files>  I get a NC code file failed to post error on the bottom right of the UI.  Another thing that has changed is that after i hit post I get no dialog box asking me to name my file like normally you get.  The files it does output say failed in the file name. Does not matter if I post all or what machining operation i post they are all failing.

What the heck is going on?

@billbarschdorf

It looks like you have a couple of things going wrong here and maybe more. I don't have your post processor so can't check but things that look off to me.

In the setup you have set your WCS Offset to 54 this should be set to 1. WCS Offset 1 is G54 (I understand why that is confusing). I think that is part of your error when posting the NC Code.

For the filename in the NC Dialog you can set the name by overwriting the "File Name" box but you will need to start an end the filename with an '

For example 'Filename' when you then click on another box the ' will disappear but it should save correctly.

Ok will post again with changes. Why doesn't AD just call WCS offsets what they are 54 55 56 etc instead of 1 2 3 just another thing to overlook and remember. Like there aren't enough things to overlook and remember with CAM programming and CNC. LOL 😤

Funny you say that it has actually just changed in the latest update but you have to have a machine defined in your set up (I'm not sure if it will work for turning machines either)

 I have my setup machine as a Haas and the Machine WCS section looks a bit different as of the January update.

I think the reason it uses 1 is that then the post processor interprets that to be the first offset number which could be something other than G54 (probably more relevant when you get into higher number offsets and different machines handle them differently).

I think that file was pretty screwed up, after changing to 1 for wcs it would still not post properly so I Created a quick new test part, programmed it and successfully posted it.

BUT still want to get to the bottom of why when I post now I get NO save as (file dialogue) box that allows you to name the file on posting like it was before. In other words the post diolog box would come up first, then hit enter and a standard windows save as diolog box would come up to name the file? I hate the file name save as now.  How did it change? And why don’t I get the save as dialog anymore? Is there a preference setting for this?

No this was a change for the January update and has been replaced by the filename box now in the NC Program dialog.

The save as box was only meant to be a temporary solution until they added the filename box in NC Program. The idea is that you create an NC Program for all the toolpaths you want to post then you keep going back to that same NC Program in the browser tree, so all file name, file locations are constant.

I noticed in your file you had many NC Programs in the browser tree. That's probably because you are selecting the toolpaths or set up and hitting post process each time. Once you have done it you can go to the file in the browser tree and edit/post from there.

For now the only way to get the save as dialog back is to revert to the old post processing in the preview features.

The reason we went with 1, 2, 3 etc, is that it's more "industry standard" across the various CAM offerings. It meshes well with the various controls, as well as Renishaw probing macros. Using MasterCAM and Esprit, they both functioned in similar manner, and then Renishaw uses S1, S2, S3 etc for G54, 55, 56
