Hi folks we are trying to create the hex feature in a phase 2 fixture cutting 2 sides at a time. We dictated the stock. fusion mills pass that violating.  without the stepover and with a single pass  its= looks  fine add the stepovers it loses it.

Hi

Have a look at the attached.

In this case you need to drive the 2d adaptive with a sketch as just selecting the one edge doesn't work.

2D tool paths don't "See" the model and will happily machine through them, you need to give a little more guidance to the toolpath.

I have also fixed up your selections in the setups as they are all over the place.

The other thing I like to do with parts like this is create a stock component that matches what has come off the lathe.

I do this by copying the body into the new component the deleting the mill feature from it.

this gives an accurate representation of what's going on in simulation.

I started doing just that. kept trying different things. This looks good thank you. there isnt much stock to remove. i tried to shorten your lines but it doesn't pick the lines  like yours are picked its picking the whole thing an alarming.

So by default 2D adaptive uses a stock calculation that is just a box that fits around the entire stock shape.

We need to give it a stock boundary that matches reality.

This can be done by Creating a sketch and projecting the Stock body onto it, then selecting the that sketch in the stock contours selection:

You probably don't even need to use adaptive at all for this part, just use multiple finishing passes for the 2D contour to get it done.
