Hi Glad you all are here!!

Trying to learn "rest machining" My questions are three;  Does the rest machining post a tool path that only cuts the "rest"?

Does it display as if that is what it is doing?

Can you get it to display the two different cuts front two back?

I'm presently unable to get it to just display cutting the "rest'  Getting two complete tool paths, which doesn't seem terribly efficient?

Thanks for you help in this matter!

What toolpath are you using rest machining with? The 3D toolpaths will look at the stock left over after previous toolpaths IF that's what you specify in the geometry tab when you've selected rest machining. The 2D paths only go by what you've specified for a cutter diameter (IE 2D Contour rest machining will clear out corners previously machined by a too-large tool).

I used the 3D like you suggested!! Like the tool path much better but as it alternated from side to side!!  I still can't get it to "rest machine" where it cuts only the remaining stock! All of the "rest material" Is very clear after the .25 diameter cutter goes throug!  It posts two complete programs!

I'm unable to get them to run sucessively!

IT ALSO IGNORES SOME OF THE TOOL PATH THAT WAS THERE FROM THE BEGINNING! It leaves about 40% of the .125 diameters!!  If i could get it plunge our those extreme ends it shouldn't be a problem!!

The ends of the of the profile where there are the .125 diameters that form a cut off passage! The big blocks on the end are just excess material for tooling allowances!!

Thanks for your help20160314_180321.jpg

Can you export the file as a .F3D and share it here? I would suspect that most of your issues are due to parameter settings.

Hello

I am presently unable to export or save as an Fd3 file!  I'm not really even sure what is included in it?  Is it the model only or does it contain the tool path and simulation as well!

You should be able to go to File - Export and choose a folder and filename, and select .F3D as the file type. It will include the model and CAM data altogether.
