Facing mill strategy issue

I have a round part that I am trying to deck down using a facing strategy. Selecting the stock contour isnt working as I think it should due to the radius contour on the right side. the simulation keeps wanting to remove mat'l beyond what I want machined. I have tried adaptive and contouring but leave mat'l like its milling a pocket. What is a better strategy for this part?snip.PNG

You should just be able to pick the face instead of a chain. You could also try the horizontal strategy. Lastly you could keep the chain but select the line that is at the bottom of the radius rather than the line that is at the top and "projected" down like you currently have.

It doesnt appear to recognize the surface or allow me to select the chain without adding the radius. The radius is linked to the surface and it will not give me an option to unselect it or select the line where the radius intersects the flat surface.snip.PNG

Face is only for milling generally the top of a part because the toolpath will alway overlap the face you are trying to machine to try and fully clean it up(obviously you can use it on faces that arent the top of the part but not one like you have)

Better to use the Flat toolpath, or I prefer to use 2D contour with multiple finishing passes (You can use horizontal too but thats now kinda a Legacy toolpath)

@jnewsomeL2K28

I have made a sample model like yours and made 3 toolpaths which might be a good starting point for you. I have used 2D Countour, 2D adaptive, and 2D pocket for this. Hope this helps.
