I´m getting the same error after todays update.

Tried a bunch of things and this is what I found:

Only Drilling and circular milling calculates properly without error.

All other toolpaths I have tested (didn´t test every single one but most) fail with the kernel error.

I have also opened older files with toolpaths that worked some days ago. If I just hit the recalculate button the remain good. If I for example take a contour toolpath and deselect the contour and select the same one again and calculate it fails also.

Please get this fixed asap as I can´t program and run any parts as of now!

Hi Both,

I apologise for this issue, we believe it is due to special characters in tool descriptions. Can you see if removing special characters out of your tool description allows the toolpaths to be calculated.

Yes it solves the problem

We have exactly the same problem nearly all of our tools in tool library  have a special character for diameter Ø this do not work.
Tried to solve the problem for several hours and could not generate any toolpaths with some tools.

This is not good as this always worked before.

Hi @Anonymous,

Does removing the characters from the toolpath description fix the toolpath generation issue?

I am by no means expressing this as a solution, but I want to make sure that we know the issue at its full extent.  I'd hate for us to fix the issue, only to find there were other scenarios we had not anticipated.

Richard

I removed all special characters except for / sign

Example:
Flat end mill Dia 8 L26/26
Description before change:

Flat end mill Ø8 L26/26

We have been using the Ø in the description for about a year.
Some time ago the ° Stoped working like description Chamfer 45°, but i remembered that there was a corrupted
description when we used the ° Sign.

Adding to last post,
Removal off the special characters fixed the problem.

Yes, renaming the tool-description seems to do the trick.

I also had the "Ø"- symbol with into my descriptions.

Curiously it only effected the 2D-Kontur feature and not the drilling function as far as I tested it.

The CAM Kernel error should now be solved, the update has gone live, the build number is 2.0.9642

You should not have to remove any special characters now.

Pleas let us know if you are still experiencing the issue.

I am still getting this error after the update. I have tried to rename the tool but my 3/16 endmill still has the special character in front of it.

Hi @Anonymous,

Are you able to attach your project for me to look at?
Or DM it to me?

Also could you take a screen shot of your "about page"
Click on the "?" in the top right then "about".
It will look like this.

Thank you for the help but it turns out that I made an error with my "bottom height". once I fixed that the Kernel error went away.

Hi @Anonymous,

Glad to hear you have it sorted.

Are you able to share the project that errors or explain the steps so I can re-create.

We are trying to improve the error messages and this sound like an ideal case.

Hi

This file is a simple contour that if no depth is inserted reports an internal kernel error. If the depth is selected like Stock top -0,1 the error goes away.
This can be really confusing when a non experienced operator tries to CAM a DX file = no model depth.
Error message:

Enabled feature flags: online-system-library setup-sheet-viewer tool-library-v4-release

Invalidated: Generation failed

Error: Internal CAM kernel error. Please report through your support channel

See attached example.

Exactly 1 year later, they messed up with updates again and this problem is relevant. Nothing works. The old ones work, but the new ones don't. When is the update?

Can you clarify the problem you're having? The issue with the characters was fixed a long time back.

I am also having this problem. and cannot remove the special character from the tool. even if i create a new tool, the software puts the character there on its own.

What special character? Can you provide a clear step-by-step explanation of what you are doing and what the result is?
